For a number of reasons, this has been a busy quarter for me personally. Unfortunately, this has meant less time available for Breed Council media work than I’d have liked. During the period of the report a number of ad hoc tasks have arisen and been undertaken as priority over adding planned content to the website. These have included –
- Adding external links to our website including 3 RKC webinars on heart health.
- Compilation of the “notable dogs” and “breed record holders” parts of the Our Dogs breed feature published in June.
- Running the monthly Facebook cover photo competition which attracts the participation of an increasing number of breed enthusiasts and thereby increases our Facebook reach.
- YouTube Championship and Breed Club Show challenge uploads. This is a time-consuming task during peak show season as these uploads and any editing required can take 1-2 hours per show and every second of each recording done by our volunteers has to be watched before uploading to avoid any inappropriate content being inadvertently shared.
- Maintenance of the Shows & Judges spreadsheet.
- Charlotte & Bobby’s Story. A website article about a newcomer to Whippet breed showing and her journey to making her young dog up to Champion.
Looking ahead to the late summer and then autumn, I’m hoping things at home will quieten down a little and I can focus more on Breed Council activity once again. In the meantime, if there are any features or other content you’d like to see published, please do share your ideas.
