UK Whippet Breed Council – Live Feed Video Policy

The UK Whippet Breed Council uses live video streaming to share key events and promote education, welfare, and engagement across the Whippet community. This policy outlines our approach to live streaming on all platforms, including how footage is captured, used, and stored, and how individuals may request not to be filmed.

1. Use of live video    Live video feeds have been a well-established feature of exhibiting Whippets in the UK for more than five years. They are recorded at: General Championship Shows; Breed Club Championship Shows; Breed Club Open Shows; and other RKC licensed events supported or hosted by the UK Whippet Breed Council. Live footage will normally be streamed to the Breed Council’s UK Whippet Livestreams YouTube channel and subsequently preserved there for public viewing.

2. Notice of filming    The Breed Council does not confirm individual live feeds in advance however, live streaming should be expected at the events listed at 1 above. Exhibitors in particular should consider themselves informed that filming and video preservation are part of normal procedure. All persons should be aware that by attending these events, they may appear in the footage, and that while being filmed, they are representing the breed.  Further, they are strongly reminded of the need to uphold the RKC’S Code of Conduct at all times.

3. Safeguarding: Children and vulnerable individuals    The Breed Council avoid intentionally filming children unless explicit permission has been given by a parent or guardian. Where children appear in wide-angle or incidental shots, care is taken to avoid identifying features or prolonged focus. If any concern arises after footage has been aired, please write to ukwhippetbcs@gmail.com to request review or editing.  Please insert “Video removal request” in the subject line.

4. Requesting Not to Be Filmed    We respect the wishes of exhibitors who do not want to be included in filmed content. If you would prefer not to appear in live footage, please email ukwhippetbcs@gmail.com prior to the event.  Please insert “Request not to be filmed” in the subject line.  Neither you nor your exhibit(s) will be directly filmed and the camera will pan away from your entry during judging or other coverage. While complete exclusion from all wide shots may not be possible, every reasonable effort will be made to respect your request. If any concern arises after footage has been aired, please write to ukwhippetbcs@gmail.com to request review or editing.  Please insert “Video removal request” in the subject line.

5. Use and Storage of Footage    All recordings will remain the property of the UK Whippet Breed Council and are used for non-commercial, educational, promotional, and archival purposes. Footage is stored on the Breed Council’s UK Whippet Livestreams YouTube channel for public viewing.

Thank you for supporting the work of the UK Whippet Breed Council and helping us to positively represent and promote the breed.
