The Whippet Breed Archive is an online database where you can search for thousands of Whippets worldwide – from the foundation dogs of the early 1900s to those in the show ring today. It brings together pedigrees, health tests, show results and photos. It allows breeders, exhibitors and owners to explore lines, siblings and historical combinations all in one place. You can add your own dogs – link them to their parents and offspring – upload pictures – and keep a record of their health tests and achievements. It’s particularly useful when planning litters, understanding a dog’s background, or researching how dogs are producing. It’s run by volunteers – entirely free to use – and is an incredibly helpful tool for enthusiasts of the breed.

How you can help If you own a Whippet

Whether you bred them or not, it would be really helpful if you can keep your dogs’ profiles up to date. Things like health test results (such as heart testing), show wins, or even just a nice photo make a big difference to the quality and accuracy of the database. If you can’t find your dogs listed already – you can add them. If they’re already there – you can request to “claim” them so you can edit the information.

Important note about security: Please do not upload Royal Kennel Club Registration Numbers or Stud Book Numbers. Unfortunately, there are people who will take this data and use it to create fake pedigrees for litters. Leaving out these details helps keep our dogs’ records safe from misuse. It’s a brilliant resource – let’s keep it accurate, helpful and safe.
